My Story

My journey into Pilates began through personal experience. After struggling with ongoing back pain and sciatica, and finding that other therapies weren’t resolving the issue, I discovered Pilates while living in Nashville, Tennessee.

Working with a Pilates teacher who later became my mentor was a turning point. They helped me identify my movement patterns, understand my weaknesses, and address the root causes of my pain. Through this process, I rebuilt my strength, improved my alignment, and experienced first-hand the powerful connection between the mind and body.

As Joseph Pilates said, “Change happens through movement and movement heals.” This philosophy has stayed with me ever since and continues to underpin the way I practise and teach Pilates today.

I now have a strong, resilient core and continue to practise Pilates regularly alongside other movement modalities, including strength training. Most importantly, I bring this lived experience into my work, supporting clients to move better, feel stronger, and build trust in their bodies again.

How I work

" I blend rehabilitation and fitness, creating an environment where you can thrive physically and mentally. My practice is focused on holistic well-being. "

Experience you can trust

With over 14 years of experience and comprehensive training through Balanced Body, I bring a depth of knowledge that supports safe, effective movement. My background working in Pilates studios and alongside physiotherapists means your sessions are always grounded in sound technique and injury-aware practice.

Personalised,
whole-body approach

No two bodies are the same. Every session is tailored to your individual needs, goals, and movement history — whether you’re managing an injury, building strength, or simply wanting to move better. Pilates is used as a foundation, with broader fitness principles integrated when appropriate.

Pilates taught
from lived experience

I don’t just teach Pilates — I live it. Having overcome my own back pain and sciatica through Pilates, I understand the physical and emotional challenges that come with injury and rebuilding trust in your body. This perspective allows me to guide clients with empathy, clarity, and confidence.

Why work with me

“I’ve worked with Prue for more than 12 months, training twice a week. Her attention to detail is exceptional — she consistently picks up on any instabilities or issues and adapts sessions accordingly. The sessions are always varied and thoughtfully structured, often incorporating weight training, which I really enjoy.”

-Tara

“Prue is more than a Pilates instructor. She has helped me build strength and stability following an old back injury, tailoring sessions to support my specific needs. I continue to train with her twice a week to maintain both physical and mental strength. Her ability to identify and correct body positioning issues is exceptional, and Pilates has become an important part of my broader exercise regime.”
